Scope and product status

These terms govern the FocusLatch app, account, website, and optional Friends features. FocusLatch is a commitment tool that uses Apple's Screen Time framework and an official physical FocusLatch Key. A session starts on the iPhone or at a configured Schedule start; the Key is scanned only to unlock. FocusLatch is not a medical product, emergency service, or guarantee of behaviour change.

Nothing can be bought on the website yet. The shop page shows the planned price and the date from which the Key will be available; this is not yet a binding offer. Screenshots, names, times, totals, goals, and other demonstrations are illustrative and are not a binding offer, delivery promise, or representation of a real member.

Account, age, and Key

You need an account for activation and account-based features. Provide accurate information, keep credentials and physical Keys safe, and do not transfer account access. If you are not legally able to agree to these terms or to consent to an optional feature in your country, a parent or guardian must act where the law permits. You must be at least 14 to use Friends.

One account may register multiple official Keys. The same physical Key may be registered by more than one account after each supplies the required physical proof. Releasing a Key requires verification of that physical Key. Releasing it or deleting the account removes that account’s Key registration; the account-independent factory and product-safety ledger remains.

Friends and user content

Friends is optional and off by default. Session sharing and Show me in the league are separate choices under Settings → Privacy. No friendship and no shared focus with others starts without your confirmation.

You remain responsible for content you submit and confirm that you have the rights needed to submit it. You grant FocusLatch a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence limited to hosting, technically reproducing, displaying to the audience you selected, securing, and moderating that content while needed to operate the feature. This does not transfer ownership and ends when the content is deleted, except for limited safety evidence or backups lawfully retained for a defined period.

The Community Guidelines prohibit harassment, threats, hate, sexual exploitation, impersonation, scams, spam, unlawful content, privacy violations, rights infringement, gambling or cash prizes, and dangerous conduct. Members may hide content, block accounts, and report a profile, profile photo, Highlight, comment, or invitation. FocusLatch may limit visibility, remove content, or restrict Friends access where reasonably necessary and will provide a reason and an appeal route where required. See Notice, Action and Appeals.

Account deletion

You can permanently delete your account in Settings → Account and backup → Delete account. This removes account-owned data and Key ownership claims subject to limited retention for safety, product traceability, disputes, audit integrity, and legal obligations. It does not erase the account-independent manufacturing ledger for a physical Key. Deleting the app alone does not delete the account.

Orders, prices, and contract formation

No payment is currently collected. The Key will be available from 19 November 2026, with delivery within Austria only, by Austrian Post in 2–4 working days. Before sales open, checkout will identify the seller, product, total price including taxes, delivery charges, supported destination, payment method, delivery estimate, statutory rights, and the exact action that creates a payment obligation. An order contract will arise only through the process described at that checkout and in its durable confirmation.

Hardware, delivery, and updates

FocusLatch will not accept paid orders until the final sale product, conformity documentation, safety information, traceability, packaging obligations, support period, and delivery flow are release-approved. Final manufacturer, product identifier, warnings, compatibility, and safety contacts will appear on the product, packaging, checkout, or Product Safety page as required.

The Key depends on compatible iPhone hardware, supported iOS frameworks, the FocusLatch app, and account services. The app needs an iPhone with iOS 17 or later. FocusLatch provides app updates, including security updates, for as long as you can reasonably expect them under the law. Nothing in these terms excludes mandatory conformity, security-update, delivery, warranty, or product-liability rights.

Withdrawal, warranty, and complaints

Consumer withdrawal information and the model form are on Withdrawal and Returns; to withdraw online, use Withdraw from contract here. Statutory legal-guarantee and conformity rights remain unaffected. For a product, delivery, accessibility, privacy, or service complaint, contact support@focuslatch.app. Moderation notices and appeals use the separate procedure linked above.

Availability and safe use

Follow the in-app and product instructions and keep account and recovery access current. If a Key is lost while a session is active, the app offers five emergency unlocks per account, and Apple retains system-level control through permission management and app removal. Service or framework availability may occasionally be interrupted; FocusLatch will not intentionally remove mandatory consumer remedies or security updates through such interruptions.

Acceptable use and enforcement

Do not attack, probe, scrape, counterfeit Keys, automate abuse, evade access controls, reverse engineer security controls where prohibited by law, or use FocusLatch to harm another person. Security research may be reported to support. FocusLatch may take proportionate action to protect members and the service, while preserving mandatory rights and a legally required appeal path.

Marketing

Product emails and marketing notifications are off unless you separately opt in. You can withdraw that choice at any time through the available setting, unsubscribe route, or support.

Operator and jurisdiction

FocusLatch is operated by Stefan Sammer, Hohenrainstraße 96/1, 8042 Graz, Austria. Business details are in the Imprint. Austrian law applies only to the extent this does not deprive consumers of mandatory protections at their habitual residence. Mandatory courts and statutory alternative-dispute information are unaffected.

Changes

The effective date changes when these terms are revised. Material changes for an existing account will be communicated in advance where required and will not retroactively remove accrued mandatory rights.
